First and finally.
People often ask how long it takes to make a particular piece of art and it is never an easy answer because it is not a linear process. This piece I began months ago and finally it is complete. It took time not only to formulate the concept and shoot all the photographs and orchestrate them into a cohesive composite, I then had to figure out how to take it from the digital to the tangible. The result: a composite photo printed on fabric and hand embroidered (with a bamboo pattern based on a Florence Broadhurst design), stretched over a frame and titled after a book. This is the first of the series Retellings.
